Heavenly Father,
We thank you for having
brought us to this place today, to be able to hear your Word preached and the
good news of the gospel once again. You have reminded us, Most Merciful God,
that though our sins are as scarlet, you have washed us as white as freshly
fallen snow.
We thank you for making
us; that we can enjoy you both now and forever. As each snowflake is uniquely
made, and falls in the time and the place you have appointed, we are comforted
to know that we also are in your hand, and we are fearfully and wonderfully
made in your image. Let us fall down before you in adoration of your creativity
and providence.
Merciful God, thank you
for crisp clean air, for cold noses, and warm cups of coco and coffee to warm
us up. Thank you for gatherings of family and friends and for warm greetings
and embraces.
We are grateful that you
have provided us with warm homes, beds and clothing. Thank you for presents
under the tree, and the anticipation of Christmas day. Remind us that though we
deserve nothing, all we have is a gift from You. By your hand we have received
grace upon grace. And even more, You have given us the best gift…Yourself, in
giving us your Son, Our Great God and Savior, Jesus, who was born as a baby,
that He grew up living perfectly before you, and died in our place to redeem us.
Jesus, how glorious it is to know that by faith we are clothed in your
righteousness.
What happiness it is to
sing Christmas songs about you Jesus. We are grateful that you have put songs
of praise upon our lips and our children’s lips. Out of the mouths of infants
and nursing babies you have prepared praise.
Holy Spirit, point us to
Christ today, and give us the grace to believe on Jesus. To believe and to take
the message of reconciliation to share with our families, our friends and our
neighbors. Do a mighty work in us and through us, that as the snow comes down
from heaven and covers the earth, Your Word would cover the earth and grant us believing
hearts.
We thank you for our
brothers and sisters in Christ, in this place, and around the world, and we
worship you together as one today.
All glory to You, Our
Savior, Amen.
